Shipping, Duties and Taxes

We ship from the UK. The EU and the US both charge import duty on parcels arriving from outside their borders. We have set things up so that in most countries you are never asked to pay anything at the door. Here is exactly what you pay, by country.

Dispatch and cut-off times

Order before 12 noon UK time, Monday to Friday, and your order is dispatched the same day.

After 12 noon, UK orders are dispatched within 24 hours and international orders within 48 hours. We do not dispatch at weekends or on English public holidays, so an order placed on Friday afternoon goes out on Monday.

Once your parcel is dispatched you will get a tracking link. Please allow a little time for tracking to start updating after collection.

Typical delivery once dispatched:

UK Express, Royal Mail Tracked 24, aims to arrive the next working day.
UK Standard, Royal Mail Tracked 48, usually 2 to 3 working days.
Europe, tracked, usually 3 to 7 working days.
United States and Canada, tracked, usually 6 to 10 working days.

These are the times the carriers aim for rather than guarantees, and customs can occasionally add a few days on international orders.

United Kingdom

Prices are what you pay. Standard delivery on the Royal Mail Tracked 48 service is £3.99, free on orders over £30. Express, on Royal Mail Tracked 24, is £4.99.

About the EU's €3 import duty

If you are ordering from an EU country, you will see a €3 charge called Duties. This is new, it is not ours, and here is where it comes from.

Until 1 July 2026, anything you bought from outside the EU worth less than €150 arrived duty free. The EU has now ended that allowance. In its place there is a flat customs duty of €3 for each type of product in an order, whatever it cost. An order containing two different kinds of product may therefore show €6. Your checkout always shows the exact figure before you pay.

This applies to everything bought from outside the EU, from any retailer, not only from us. It is set by EU law, it goes to customs, and none of it comes to Draaft. The rule is a temporary one and is currently due to be replaced by standard tariff rates in July 2028.

EU countries where everything is settled at checkout

Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Portugal, Ireland, Slovakia, Estonia, Luxembourg, Malta, Bulgaria and Cyprus.

Two government charges are added at checkout and shown as their own lines, so you can see exactly what they are:

Duties is the €3 import duty explained above. We pay it to customs for you before your parcel leaves the UK.

Taxes is VAT at your country's rate. We collect it and pass it to the EU under the IOSS scheme, so it does not have to be collected on delivery. It is the same VAT you would pay buying from a shop in your own country.

Neither of these is a Draaft charge. Delivery is a flat £9.99, tracked, shown in your currency at checkout. Nothing to pay when your parcel arrives.

EU countries where the duty is collected on delivery

Belgium, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Croatia, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania.

For these ten countries we are not able to pay the €3 import duty in advance on your behalf. Your national postal service will collect it when they deliver, and most of them add a small handling fee of their own, so expect somewhere between €3 and €9 in total at the door depending on who delivers it.

VAT is still settled at checkout and shown as its own line, so that part is already paid and nothing further is owed on it. Delivery is a flat £9.99, tracked, shown in your currency.

We would rather tell you here than let it be a surprise.

United States & Canada

The US has ended its duty-free allowance for small parcels, so every item arriving from the UK now carries import duty. We pay that duty in advance, before your parcel leaves the UK, so there is no customs bill and no brokerage fee when it is delivered.

Delivery is a flat £9.99 (about $13), tracked. Sales tax, where your state charges it, is shown at checkout.

Everywhere else

Delivery is tracked at £9.99. Any import duty or tax is charged by your own customs authority on arrival and is not included in our price.
